Memorial Awards
This Memorial award will be conferred in memory of a recently deceased luminary in the field of educational psychology. This award will commemorate the work and honor a luminary in the field of educational psychology following his or her death. The criteria for individuals so honored would be that they have: (a) made significant intellectual contributions to the field of educational psychology and also (b) served in some leadership capacity for Division 15. In a given year, one or more awards, or no awards, will be given, depending upon which luminaries are deceased. The honorific award will recognize the individual's lifework.
When a luminary passes, the Memorial Awards Committee will add a nominated name to a list of nominees for the award in a process similar to existing awards. Division 15 also invites nominations from the field. The Committee will determine if there is an individual who meets the criteria for the award and will then notify the family of the individual. Awardees will be announced at the annual Business Meeting, and a former student or colleague will be asked by the Committee to write a short piece on the luminary for publication in the Fall issue of the Division Newsletter (the first date following the announced award).
